I keep coming back to The Little Coffee Tree in Maida Vale, North London because it is so familiar and friendly. There are never any surprises and it is a guaranteed place for good company, fresh produce, and a smiley welcome. With the current pandemic it is a place where you can catch up with the locals queuing and exchange an update or two and feel part of a community.
Lockdown has taught me a lot about myself and what is important to me, but this time has really highlighted the struggle that businesses are undergoing and their commitment to survive and I feel as a customer, a real duty to support small local businesses that make such an important impact on our community.
You know you are a regular when Timi (the owner) knows your name; you recognise the dogs that visit (and boy are there some cute dogs!) and you can continue the conversation with another customer you met last time!
The Little Coffee Tree, like the name suggests is little. And prior to Lockdown this quaint little shop, with 2 tables, a window bench and tables outside would be full most lunchtimes! But there is a reason for this… freshly made sandwiches, paninis and salads, home-made cakes (some gluten free too-try the gluten free brownie!!) and savoury treats all add up to the delight of this place.
Due to lockdown, you cannot enter the shop, but you can still admire the array of treats from the window while you queue-socially distanced of course!
There’s a pop-up shop inside too that stocks essentials and now is the time to stock up on panettone! Who does not like a panettone?!
I will always grab a skinny cappuccino and a cake, my favourite cake now from there is the apple and cinnamon slice. Reminds me of something by mum use to make me as a child and it’s delicious!
Go visit The Little Coffee Tree (say I sent you) be sure to introduce yourself and grab a loyalty card because you will be back!
